Focus speed and Video sound... ZD 12-60 and ZD 11-22

Hello everyone,

this morning, I took out the E-P1 + ZD 12-60mm SWD f2.8-4 and ZD 11-22mm f2.8-3.5... to do further demos of the focusing action and noise pickup during video recording.

Sample images from my outing are here.

Demo 1. E-P1 + ZD 12-60

The lens + 4/3rds adapter tends to dominate the camera, but is light enough to hang on the leather neck strap shown above. I carried the combination by the lens.

Manual focusing with this lens is mechanical (not fly by wire) - so is quieter and smoother... this would make a good lens for video with practice.

Demo 2. E-P1 + ZD 11-22

Please post any questions/comments below.

Kind Regards

Brian

I wonder if Olympus will release a firmware revision that allows us to adjust the sensitivity of the mic? Its really one of the only things that stops this camera excelling at video recording. Even pulling focus manually with the 14-42mm kit lens (which is pretty quite), comes out pretty loud!

I might try some tape of the mics to dull the sound a little :)

Hi Jason,

it would be better if Olympus could use the HDMI interface to accept a stereo mic input. I'll ask the question.

That would be an excellent solution if possible!!

Jason, I've asked the question - and hope that if there is a way, Olympus will bring out a cable (probably extortionate! lol) to allow a stereo mic input.

Cheers

Brian
