How to set your CDAF focus target freely...

When you select Single Point as the Auto Focus target, you get to select from a central grid of 11 patches.

But if you're shooting a landscape or street scene, and you want freeform and precise focusing anywhere in the frame... here's how you can do that.

  1. Press the Info button to cycle to the display with the green zoom box for MF assist zoom.
  2. Move the green box to anywhere you want to precisely focus.
  3. Press 'OK' to zoom in the display to your focus patch.
  4. Press AEL/AFL to perform the S-AF focus scan... bingo! perfect focus.
  5. Press 'OK' again to zoom out to full view and take your shot.

Hope that helps,
