E-P1 Kit lenses...
Monday, June 22, 2009 at 10:40PM Hi Brain,
I am definitely getting the EP1 (replacing an E420 as my small/backup body). I have the 14-42 kit lens that came with the E420 and considering getting the kit with the 17mm (no two lens kits planned for the US yet). How much better is the performance of the micro 14-42 compared to the 4/3 14-42 with the adapter with regards to AF speed/accuracy? (I realize that needing the adapter means the combination will be a bit larger than using the micro lens.)
>>> Hi Steve, the 14-42mm kit lens designed for the E-P1 is a marvellous design - I love the way it collapses down to reduce the thickness when carrying. The speed and accuracy are likely to be slightly better... but I can't confirm this at the moment, as I've misplaced my two ZD kit lenses.
Thanks (and enjoy your new toys),
Steve Wandy

Shi Yali asked :
I read somewhere that the front element of the kit zoom lens rotates during focusing, can you please confirm if this is so or not. Thanks!
>>> The 14-42 kit lens front element rotates about 40deg (less than a 1/4 turn) across the whole focus range.
>>> The 17mm f2.8 pancake lens front element does not rotate.
Hope that helps,
Brian
